Answers to common Facebook questions

Do I need Facebook to participate?

You don't need to have a Facebook account to participate in summits!
All you need to participate is an email address. Facebook is not necessary, we only use it for the comment box on the summit pages. Everything else - the registration, watching the interviews, getting access to the replays, etc. runs outside of Facebook and everyone is welcome to join.
And while it's nice to connect with other community members and find support in the comment section, the main value in the summit comes from the interviews and anyone can enjoy these free of charge during the live summit and you never have to log into Facebook at all.

Why do you use Facebook comments for summits?

We know that using Facebook comments isn’t ideal for everyone, however with tens of thousands of people participating in our online events and a tiny team, the only way we can offer interactive comments is by leveraging the largest social media platform. The alternative would be to require login accounts for each participant and that’s something we can’t accommodate at the scale that would be needed.

If you don’t use Facebook, you can still participate in the summit - all you need to participate is an email address.

Facebook is necessary for the comment box on the summit pages, but everything else – the registration, watching the interviews, getting access to the replays – runs outside of Facebook, and everyone is welcome to join.

How do I post a comment in the summit?

We use Facebook comments to offer this functionality. To be able to comment you must be logged into Facebook inside the web-browser that you are using.
If you use the Facebook app, this does not automatically mean that you're logged into Facebook inside your browser as well.
Sometimes logging out and back in can also help so here's what you can do:
  1. Open facebook.com inside the browser on your phone
  2. Log out of Facebook
  3. Log into Facebook again
  4. Afterwards and in the same browser open the live broadcast link
  5. Tap comments at the top of the page.
Now the comment field should show up:

Enter your comment and if you want to share it on Facebook also check the box to “Also post on Facebook”.
If this doesn’t work, then use another browser – we recommend the latest Google chrome – may help. Because the comment section is added into the page by Facebook we are unable to change how it works.

What do I do if I can't comment on the summit page?

If you use the Facebook app, this does not automatically mean that you’re logged into Facebook inside your browser as well.
Sometimes logging out and back in can also help so here’s what you can do:
  1. Open facebook.com inside the browser on your phone
  2. Log out of Facebook
  3. Log into Facebook again
  4. Afterwards and in the same browser open the live broadcast link
  5. Tap comments at the top of the page (see screenshot below).

To view your comment,  scroll all the way down towards the bottom of the page.
Please Note: You can’t have both the audio playing and see the comments at the same time. To comment, you have to exit viewing/listening mode and make a comment at the bottom then come back up the page and relaunch the video. If you wish to watch and comment, you will need two devices, or if using a desktop computer to have two browser windows open.
Enter your comment and if you want to share it on Facebook also check the box to “Also post on Facebook”. If this doesn’t work, then use another browser – we strongly recommend Google Chrome – may help. Because the comment section is added into the page by Facebook we are unable to change how it works.
